T&L Live Chicago 2015

May 8, 2015 | Lincolnshire Marriott | Lincolnshire, IL

At Tech & Learning Live @ Chicago on May 8, keynote speaker Kecia Ray asks the question: Is blended learning the answer to a better learning experience? Can the work of Michael Horn and Clayton Christensen--who found success "disrupting" education predominately in charter schools--scale to a larger, established school district?

That was the task embraced by her district, Nashville Public Schools, and they found that their answer was: Yes. By blending their instruction, Nashville's large, diverse district was able to create the elements found in Horn and Christensen's charter school success stories: smaller class sizes, flexible schedules, and adaptive teaching that resulted in true personalized learning. Dr. Kecia Ray will kick off a day of professional learning at T&L Live by sharing Nashville's story, and give you the ingredients you need to create this secret sauce in your own schools and districts.

As executive director of learning technologies for the Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools, Dr. Kecia Campbell-Ray oversees planning and administration of the district's virtual school, blending learning, online professional development and instructional technology integration. In addition to her role with the Nashville Schools, Ray currently serves as chair of the ISTE board of directors.
